3rd class final: Govers-Vangheluwe ½-½

The games for the first two classes as well as groups A and B and the semifinal of the third class tournament were played in Het Koningsken, Wolstraat 5. The tempo mentioned for the first class tournament was an hour for twenty moves, followed by half an hour for every ten moves. Presumably, it was the same for the other groups, but I’m not sure.

According to [1], group C was played in Roeselare. It might also have been played at another time. Certain is that when [2] gives the playing schedule, it makes no mention of this C group. [2] mentions that Govers-Vangheluwe was the game from the third class final. I don’t know whether more games were played or the title was shared or something else entirely.

[3] gives a few games and the crosstable for the main event. [1] gives all the tables. [2] gives the full playing schedule and some organisational details.

Wanted

  • Most games – especially from the minor tournaments.
  • Many first names, again, especially from the minor tournaments.
  • I’m not sure about the nationalities.
