This time, the traditional match was played on eleven boards instead of ten, according to [1] because players from Venlo arrived after the match had started. So, presumably, the Dutch reserves were called upon but then, when the planned players did arrive after all, some extra Belgian players were found to face them. For the first time, the Belgians managed a draw.
