Note that Van Steenis could not play on January 9th and 10th. His games against Cortlever and De Groot were played before the tournament. This was the first time that the Hoogoven tournament had an international group. O’Kelly scored the only Belgian victory ever in this tournament. He lost in the first round, but snatched the victory when Stoltz suffered a surprising defeat in the last round. [1] has pretty much complete information.

This beautiful picture of the prize-giving ceremony was kindly sent to me by Mr. Philip Jurgens, who quotes Noord-Hollands Archief as his source. O’Kelly is in the middle. More to the right are first Kramer and then Stoltz. I do not know the identities of the other people.
