After six Steinweg tournaments, Volmac took over the sponsoring for one year. Because Antwerp was the European Capital of Culture in 1993 there were, besides the open tournament, also a very strong grandmaster tournament and a junior tournament. The games from the grandmaster and junior groups were taken from [1] from which the crosstables were extracted. [2] gives quite a few games from the open section. [3] gives some more games by lower-ranked players. Gurevich had recently become a member of the Belgian Chess Federation, but did not have the Belgian nationality yet.
