Koltanowski was clearly too strong for the rest of the field, mainly because he absolutely crushed the weaker players. This tournament was played in the winter from October 1927 to January 1928. [1] gives the starting date and mention two rounds were played per week. The last-round game between Koltanowski and Censer was played on January 30th, so that must have been the end date. The crosstable from [3] is corroborated by the final results given in [2]. Only a few games are available unfortunately. They come from [1]-[4]. I’m grateful to Mr. Philip Jurgens for pointing out some information I had originally missed.

Wanted

  • First names of Oberman, Kaplan, and Embrechts.
  • Almost all games.
  • I am not at all sure about the nationalities. All players probably lived in Belgium, but that’s pretty much all I know for sure.
