To give some of its best players the chance to play against strong competition, they invited Jan Rooze for a small weekend tournament. He was to be joined by the club’s champion, Vanhecke, its winter champion, Bossuyt, and their highest-rated player on the Belgian national list. This was actually Wostyn, whose participation would have made the tournament considerably more interesting. However, Wostyn couldn’t make it and Vandooren took his place.
The tournament took place in the K Bruges SK’s normal playing hall at Het Putje, ‘t Zand 31. Round one started on Friday, September 20th at 19:15, round two on Saturday, September 21st at 14:30, and the third round on Sunday, September 22nd at 14:00. The tempo was 2:30 for 40 moves.
Rooze outclassed his competition. His first-round game ends in a rather pretty attack.
