In honour of the great Russian grandmaster Ragozin, a very important correspondence tournament was organised under the direction of Jacob Eventov. O’Kelly was invited, no doubts on the grounds of his performance in the third correspondence world championship, which had almost finished when this tournament started. As there, he did very well, remaining unbeaten in a very strong field. However, this time he had to make do with second place, since Rittner had a marvellous score. Strangely, he seems to have had mostly black against the top finishers and mostly white against the tail-enders.

The crosstable comes from [1]. I have attempted to give the title data as at the start of the tournament, but am not sure I fully succeeded. The games I have come from [2].

Wanted

  • A few of O’Kelly’s games.
