In this tournament, the first round consisted of a bunch of preliminary sections. The winners qualified for one of the two semi-finals. The winners of those then played a single game for the open Dutch rapid championship. Boey won his semi-final with 2½ out of 3, before Wellner, Piket and Jansen. In the other semi-final, Kuijpers shared first place with Belgians Coosemans and Janssens. Kuijpers won the play-off by defeating his two opponents. In the final, he defeated yet another Belgian to win the title.
