The Belgian correspondence chess federation Het Belgisch Schaakbord/L’Échiquier Belge was called into live because some players were unsatisfied by the quality of the bulletin of the AJÉC, the original Belgian correspondence chess association with which it was to compete for some years. In 1943, the BS/ÉB organised its first national championship. [1] gives the crosstable and a couple of games.

One of the participants, Noordijk, published quite a few collections of games, mostly played by amateurs from the greater Antwerp region. Of these, [2] and [3] contain some more games from this tournament, mainly played by Noordijk himself. The other ones probably have a different volume of Het Belgisch Schaakbord/L’Échiquier Belge, to which I don’t have access, as their original source.

Wanted

  • Most games.
  • First names for Davidiuk and Noordijk.
