According to [2], this tournament was held in honour of the 60th birthday of Bernhard Kagan. [1] gives all the games. The rounds and the starting date of Wednesday, November 17th come from [3]. Colle did not have a great tournament, but the competition was quite stiff. He won the brilliancy prize for his game against Grünfeld. The start and end dates of the tournament were kindly sent to me by a reader, citing [4]. The precise dates for the rounds were kindly sent me by Mr. Philip Jurgens, who already gives the following short report, for which he quotes [5]:
Colle suffered from an upset stomach, which affected his play. He had to interrupt his game against Mr. v. Holzhausen. Furthermore, he was exhausted from participating in more than 12 tournaments in 1926.
The tournament director was Viktor Tietz. Play took place daily at the Café Zielka, the morning session between 10 am and 1 pm, and the afternoon session between 5:30 pm and 9 pm.
Four prizes were awarded in the values of 1000, 700, 600, and 500 Marks. In addition, the non-prize-winners received other remuneration, and the foreign players received travel and accommodation expenses.
