Belgian rapid championship, Merksem

01-09-1957

Jansens, Edward BEL ½ 1
Limbos, Paul BEL ½ 0 ½

3-4. Bergsma, Boey, Dunkelblum, Soultanbeieff & Tonoli 8-10. Denckens, A. Janssens & Winants 11-17. Franck, Lines, Van den Driessche, Vandiest, Van Mol, Vlagsma & Vlaemynck 18-19. Van Donk & Riddell 20-21. Donker & Duursma 22. Etmans 23. Thibaut

I do not know exactly how the two finalists were decided, but I do know that this time Limbos had to play against Jansens, a Belgian living in the Netherlands for whom this was pretty much the only appearance in Belgian chess history. The first game of the final, with 15′ pppp, was drawn. A second game, at the 5′ pppp rate, was won by Jansens. All I know comes from [1].

Wanted

  • Almost all of the games.
  • The crosstable.
