Meulders, who had won the previous edition very convincingly, managed to beat the top three, but lost too many points against the outsiders to reach the podium himself. Instead, local player Deleyn won the title for the first time. As usual, many top players — Boey, Rooze, Behen — stayed away.

[1] has full results and many games. Possibly, the remaining ones were published in the same magazine, but in issues I don’t have access to.  [2]-[5] have many more games. According to [1], there were a bunch of special prizes:

  • Prize of the City of Ghent: Deleyn
  • VSF prize: Deleyn
  • SVDB prize: Defize
  • Brilliancy prize: Lemaire (against Herzfeld)
  • Shortest victory: De Bruycker
  • Best notation: Schuermans
  • Combativity award: Weyns
  • Lemon prize: Frank
  • Oldest participant: Lemaire
  • Youngest participant: Rimmermann
  • Lowest rating: Timmermans

Warning!

I forgot to note down the source for the games WeemaeMeulders, Zimmermann-Vanfraechem, Schuermans-Willaert and Zimmermann-De Bruycker.

Wanted

  • Many games.
