Belgian championship, Antwerp

16-12-1929 > 21-12-1929

1 2 3 (4) Tot
1 Colle, Edgard BEL 11 11 (++) 4
2 Kornreich, Isidore BEL 00 11 (++) 2
3 Barzin, Marcel BEL 00 00 (½+) 0
Censer, Maurice BEL ½- (½)

At this point in time, the Belgian championship consisted nominally of a preliminary section, the top three finishers of which would get to play the reigning champion in a small double-round tournament. However, there were rarely enough players to warrant the organisation of a preliminary. So, too, this year. Since Koltanowski, didn’t participate, Colle scored an easy victory.

The tournament was organised in Antwerp, apparently in rather bad conditions. So bad, in fact, that the fifth round game between Colle and Barzin was played in Brussels instead.

Wanted

  • The game Barzin-Kornreich.
