Castellano from Luxembourg appeared for the first round with a broken leg. During his game against Mitkov, he had to be rushed to the hospital; the plate in his leg had apparently broken. He had to withdraw and de Vries was added to the field to prevent a bye. Stefánsson led for ten rounds, but not the last one! Djurhuus had a rather slow start but finished by scoring 6/6 and defeating his main competitors. Belgian representative Van der Stricht had a similar path on a lower level. All information I have comes from the tournament book [1], except for the dates of the games, which come from [2].
