Originally, Belgian champion of 1968 Ebrahimi was supposed to play in the main group, together with Wostyn, the organising club’s highest rated player, Vanhecke, its club champion, and Cardinael, the winner of its winter tournament. Vandezande was a last minute replacement. The games started at 19:30 on Friday and on 20:30 on Saturday and Sunday.

Apparently, there was a tournament booklet, copies of which were provided to all the chess clubs in city. Sadly, I’ve not been able to find it.

Wanted

  • All games.
  • First names for most of the players in the knock-out tournament.
