Tot Belgium 3-7 Switzerland

International correspondence chess started to take off after the second world war. This, I believe, was Belgium’s first international match. It ended in a resounding defeat, although it must be said that, apparently, Baijot exceeded the time limit in a winning position while O’Kelly never even started his game. (Perhaps he thought he had black and was waiting for a move?)

I’m grateful to Dominique Thimognier who; via Philip Jurgens, sent me the table above as well as a couple of games from [1]. The other game I have was also pointed out to me by Mr. Jurgens. It comes from [2].

Wanted

  • Most games.
  • First names for Quintyn, Krausz and Moser.
