The main tournament was won by Kupreichik, before Smyslov and Speelman. In the challengers’ section, youth ruled supreme. Among them were also four young players from around Brussels. Their performances were variable. I do not know why Geenen withdrew. Franklin withdrew when he was leading with one round to go, due to the death of his father-in-law.
