*: The tournament bulletin gives Weidner’s total as 4½. However, his score after eight rounds is given as 3½ and his final result as a draw. It seems likely the f is a mistake.

Throughout the whole tournament, with the exception of their fifth round draw, Korchnoi and Hort were right next to each other on the top boards, beating all comers. Only in the final round did Grünfeld manage to draw against Hort, thereby deciding the tournament. A young Dutreeuw got some valuable international experience, but lost all his games against titled opponents. The results, from which the crosstable was extracted, and the games I have come from the tournament bulletin. That the tournament was held at the end of September I concluded from the fact that the final standings at the top appeared in [2]. The tournament bulleting gives some Elo ratings which don’t appear in the July 1983 list; I have not included those.
