The only Belgian victory ever in a zonal tournament. It came about after Pachman lost to Tsvetkov in the last round, while O’Kelly defeated Doerner. The tournament was held in Hotel Santbergen; Kmoch was arbiter. Originally, Tartakower was supposed to represent France but he couldn’t come due to ‘force majeur’. Scottish champion Combe called of. A Romanian player didn’t show up.  All information I have comes from the tournament book [1], from which the following is a rough scan:
