This was a match played in two rounds, one on January 24th in Brussels, the other on June 20th in Ghent. One look at the Brussels top boards suffices to see that they were heavy favourites for the first match, but they received a sound trouncing on the lower boards. For the second match, they enforced their team and managed to win, but not enough to cancel out their previous defeat: Ghent won with 20½-19½ .
