After the resounding Belgian defeat the preceding year, this was a surprisingly close affair. The Belgians even managed a win on the second day! This was no doubt partly due to the absence of Euwe in the Dutch team and the presence of O’Kelly in the Belgian one. Of course, the Belgian team could have been even stronger if foreign members of the Belgian chess federation, like Van Seters and Soultanbeieff, would have been selected. I took the results from [1].
