8 Decamps, Jean BEL 0 0 0 0 0 1 1

According to an announcement in [1], the games were to be played on seven successive Sundays, but skipping June 1st in order to allow Bussers to play in the Belgian women’s championship (although the women’s championship in the end was played later). The games were to be played in the rooms of the white player’s club. An exception was made for Colemont-Janssens, because the latter, being in military service, couldn’t travel far. The players were invited to agree on a different playing location. What it turned out to be, I don’t know. All the games were published by tournament director Evenepoel in [2]. The cover of [2] claims it cost 10 BEF, but [3] announces it for 11 BEF, including 1 BEF postage. The revenue was supposed to support the junior division of the Belgian chess federation.

[1] mentions how the players qualified: Bussers from the Antwerp championship, Colemont from the Limburg one, Janssens from East Flanders, Schumacher from Liège/Luxembourg, Decamps from Hainaut/Namur, Schaeken from Brabant, Missiaen from West Flanders, and finally Boey as reigning Belgian champion second class. I don’t know why Decamps forfeited his game against Janssens. In the last round, Bussers managed to hold Colemont to a draw, thereby edging him out on SB and qualifying, as the only women ever, for the Belgian championship.
