On the weekend of Easter, the CÉ Brussels organised some quadrangular tournaments in its rooms in Welgelegenstraat 28. The tempo was 40 moves in two hours, presumably followed by 20 moves per hour. It got an international touch by the participation of Cortlever and Donner who, earlier that year, had shocked the chess world by winning the Hoogoven tournament. Here, he played for victory against Van Seters in the last round, but lost. The other main group was won by local Devos on Sonneborn-Berger before Cortlever. Van Schoor, who would not have been out of place in one of the main groups, had to retire after one round due to indisposition.

[1] gives final standings and all the games from the two main groups as well as the final standings and one game from the five lower groups.

Wanted

  • Almost all games from the lower sections.
  • The crosstables for sections
  • Many first names of players in the lower sections.
