Some of Brussels’ strongest players, like Devos and O’Kelly, were missing, but this was still one of the strongest tournaments in Belgium of the year. Choinowski scored a surprising victory, leaving the established favourites Van Seters, Jerochov, and Rose behind him. Note that this was not a championship of the  city of Brussels, but of the greater Brussels region. The precise extend is unclear to me, but it probably corresponds more or less to today’s Brussels Capital Region. This explains why the games were not actually played in Brussels, but rather in Ukkel (rounds 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9) and Vorst (rounds 4 and 5).

I have only three games, unfortunately: two from [1], one from [2].

Wanted

  • Most games.
  • First names for Choinowski and Michiels.
  • The crosstable from the promotion section.
