According to [2], some players of the FBÉ tried to stop Koltanowski and Sapira from playing; probably because they were both members of the Vlaamse Schaakbond. This might explain why Barzin forfeited. For the record: the final standing in the Major B tournament, that he was to play in, was:

1. Nadel 7½ 2. Lean 7 3.Reid 6 4. Schmidt 6 5. Wax 5½ 6. Brown 4 7. Lenton 3½ 8. Dobell 3 9. Baines-Lewis 2½ 10. Barzin 0 (forfait).

The crosstables come from [1], just like 2 of the games, one game from Major A comes from [3], the other from [4].

Wanted

  • Most games.
  • The first names of Stephenson, Vezer, Mortlock & Crothers.
